More experience behind
every number.
A difficult vehicle deserves more than an automated estimate. Total Loss Network combines appraisal experience, technology skills and automotive relationships to investigate the details behind a defensible value.
100 claim records.
The difference in dollars.
Historical results supplied by our appraisal team, including work completed before the Total Loss Network brand. These figures describe the supplied dataset, not a promised outcome or every claim the team has handled.
100 of 100
Recorded increases greater than $1,000.
$415,269.58
Total recorded increase over the insurer offers.
$4,152.70
Average recorded increase per claim.
Increase means the listed final amount minus the listed insurer offer, before appraisal fees or other costs. It is not net take-home recovery. Results depend on the vehicle, evidence, policy and claim. No increase is guaranteed. Dates are not available for every record, so this is not presented as an independently verified consecutive last-100 cohort.

Different strengths.
One accountable valuation.
40+ years at the senior level
Our senior appraiser has appraised vehicles for more than 40 years and directly oversees every assignment.
Experienced reviewing appraisers
Our other two appraisers each bring at least 10 years of appraisal experience. Experience is individual, not a combined-years headline.
Classic and specialty knowledge
Our team includes expertise in classic and antique vehicles from the 1940s forward, where condition, originality, equipment and scarcity demand closer attention.
Experience that reaches
beyond a valuation screen.
Hands-on condition knowledge
Experience with diminished-value work helps our appraisers recognize signs of prior damage and improper repairs in available photos and records. A comparable’s advertised condition deserves scrutiny too.
Dealer-side experience
A former Reynolds and Reynolds coordinator on the team worked with dealers around the United States. That background and established relationships can help identify sources and investigate vehicle details.
Automotive community connections
Team experience includes administering a major automotive forum network. For unusual vehicles, professional and enthusiast connections can help locate leads and specialist knowledge that broad searches miss.
Technical research skills
Computer-savvy appraisers can trace how a reported number was produced, organize complex research and cross-check data across sources.
Clear communication
A team member’s former role as a marketing director at a West Coast advertising firm contributes experience presenting complex information clearly. Appraisal conclusions still stand on evidence, not presentation alone.
Human judgment
A listing found through a contact is a research lead, not proof by itself. We check vehicle suitability, source details and meaningful differences before relying on it.
AI speeds up research.
Appraisers check what it produces.
- Verify identity and equipment. Check year, trim, powertrain, mileage and available build records.
- Trace the source. Review the underlying listing or record instead of treating an AI summary as evidence.
- Challenge the comparison. Examine geography, configuration, vehicle history and relevant condition.
- Explain the adjustment. Ask whether a difference is supported and whether the calculation is internally consistent.
- Review the conclusion. Human appraisers assess the findings and control the finished opinion of value.
No system eliminates every error. The point of review is to identify issues, resolve unsupported assumptions and produce a more defensible appraisal.
Your interests matter.
The evidence still comes first.
We do not accept insurance-company assignments. Our work helps vehicle owners understand and support their vehicle’s value. Consumer advocacy does not mean manufacturing an increase, overlooking contrary evidence or promising an outcome before the research is done.
We do not claim that other appraisers lack these qualities. We invite you to ask who will do the work, what experience they bring, what the service includes and how the final number will be supported.
Ask the questions
that reveal the actual service.
A polished website is a starting point. Ask for specific answers about the person doing the work, the scope and the evidence.
1. What vehicle-appraisal credential do you hold, and who issued it?
Ask for the appraiser’s name, credential number, issuing authority and current status. For an independent appraisal under ORS 742.466, Oregon recognizes a vehicle appraiser certificate issued under ORS 819.480 or a vehicle appraiser certificate or license from another state or government body. A private course certificate or association membership is not, by itself, the same government-issued credential.
Oregon’s Vehicle Appraiser Certificate is administered by ODOT Driver and Motor Vehicle Services. Confirm the credential with the issuer rather than relying on a badge or the word “certified.” Ask whether the qualification fits this particular assignment.
2. Do you accept assignments from insurance companies?
Ask whether the individual or company accepts insurer assignments, and whether any existing relationship creates a conflict in your case. “Independent” does not necessarily mean “consumer-only.” Total Loss Network accepts consumer assignments only and does not work for insurance companies. Our conclusions must still be impartial and supported by evidence.
3. Who will actually prepare, review and sign my appraisal?
Ask whether the named expert does the work or delegates it, who oversees assistants, and who answers questions about the finished report. At Total Loss Network, our senior appraiser with more than 40 years of vehicle-appraisal experience directly oversees every assignment. Other reviewing appraisers have at least 10 years of appraisal experience.
4. How do you use AI, and what does a human verify?
Ask which tasks use automation, who checks the inputs and source records, and who takes responsibility for the value conclusion. We use AI-assisted research and cross-checking under direct appraiser control. Our finished appraisal is not an unreviewed AI estimate.
5. Have you appraised vehicles and disputes like mine?
Ask about experience with your vehicle type, unusual equipment, the relevant market and the policy appraisal process. General automotive experience and experience appraising vehicles are different questions. Ask for relevant examples without requesting another customer’s private records.
6. Am I buying a report or an appointed-appraiser service?
Get the scope in writing. Who presents the report? Who discusses value with the opposing appraiser? What happens if they disagree? Our report-only service provides evidence for you or your attorney to present. Our accepted appraisal-clause assignments include serving as your appointed appraiser. We do not negotiate third-party claims.
7. How will you verify equipment, comparables and adjustments?
Ask how the appraiser checks trim, drivetrain, mileage, condition and title history. Ask what supports the comparable selection and each material adjustment. We cross-check equipment and window-sticker information where available and investigate the calculations behind the result.
8. What is the complete fee, payment schedule and possible extra cost?
Ask about report revisions, umpire costs, cancellation, early termination and payment timing. Confirm whether a percentage is charged and whether a quoted fee covers the entire agreed scope. Our current fees and service boundaries are on the Pricing page.
9. Does a guarantee describe a refund or promise my vehicle’s value?
Read eligibility and exclusions. Separate a gross increase from what remains after fees and other costs. No marketing threshold establishes what your vehicle was worth. We do not guarantee an increase; our work follows the evidence rather than a target number.
10. Will I need an inspection, and how will my records be handled?
Ask whether existing photographs and records are sufficient, who arranges any inspection, and what happens if the vehicle moves or is sold. Ask where documents go, who can access them and what the retention policy is before uploading. Human oversight does not automatically mean an in-person vehicle inspection.
Oregon credential guidance checked October 11, 2026. Qualifications and policy requirements vary by assignment and jurisdiction. These questions help you compare services; they do not establish that another provider is unqualified.
Two services.
Two different claim paths.
Your own policy’s appraisal clause
An appointed appraiser to research and support value through the policy’s appraisal process.
A third-party value demand
An appraisal report and demand-support package for you or your attorney to use.
