Vehicle valuation checklist

Prepare a clean evidence file before you dispute an offer.

Documents to collect

  • Full valuation, including comparable and adjustment pages.
  • Written offer and settlement breakdown.
  • Policy and appraisal provision, if using your own coverage.
  • VIN, mileage, equipment records and pre-loss photographs.
  • Storage authorization, rental end date and vehicle-release instructions.

One row for each discrepancy

Keep the original report unchanged. Use a separate worksheet, with numbered attachments, to explain your concern. Record whether the insurer corrected the fact and whether the change affected the result.

Before sending

  • Remove unnecessary private information from material sent to unrelated recipients.
  • Use the claim representative’s verified delivery route.
  • Keep copies and the date sent.
